Petco does accept unwanted fish. If you have a healthy freshwater fish you can no longer care for, you can bring it to your local Petco for donation. It is wise to call ahead to check if that location is able to accept a fish donation at that time, as they may have limited space available for donated fish. Before you choose to adopt a fish or group of fish, make sure you know everything involved so you are fully prepared to care for your pets. Petco guarantees returns of freshwater aquatic life inside a designated time frame. For 30 days, you can receive a full refund for freshwater fish purchased in our Pet Care Centers. All fish should have a properly established habitat; a receipt is required, and we recommend providing a water sample with your return. By testing your water, we can help check if your tank is ready for another fish, or if it may need some work to prepare it for a new fish.

Charging for shopping bag!!

I went to Petco Oshkosh this evening. I purchased canned cat food for my cat and when I got to the checkout, Natalie (the employee) at the register asked me if I would like a bag and then told me that it would be 10 cents for the little plastic shopping bag. I was shocked that Petco is now charging their customers for the shopping bag to bring your purchases home in. Thank goodness there are other pet stores in Oshkosh that I can shop at. It would be one thing if this was known (like Aldi's) and you plan for it by bringing in your own bags, but, this is apparently new.

Do not buy fish here

1) Rudely questioned about my tank set up before I could purchase fish. Even after stating I have had my tank for 3 years now. 2) No questions asked about gender of fish. 3) Have baby Molly's after 30 day expiration of the store policy. They do not exchange any of males or females after 30 days. 4) They do not take any baby fish of any size from the fish you purchase. 5) The manager says they don't have room for baby fish. Which after calling back a second time, it's not that they don't have room, they do not take them ever. 6) Manager hung up the phone, that's how they are trained to handle an unhappy customer. 7) Raeferred me to aquarium store where I didn't purchase the fish.

I went in to see some animal and this “worker” off the clock i might add was touching the farrets showing her kid i asked a lady to see one and she said no because we cant hold them and i asked why the worker thats off of WORK can touch and hold it and show it to her kid but then dosent allow others to see it, all attitude from the lady i talked to and then walked away ignoring us

saved our dog

Mid Sept, I was in the dog food isle trying to find something my dog could eat with out going into what looked like seizures. (vet was unsure what was causing it). A young lady asked if I need any help, I told her what was happing. Our 14 yr old just had 13 teeth pulled and when he would eat, go into convulsions/seizures shortly after. she asked what we were feeding him, and how, and a couple other questions. After I answered her questions, we had some discussion, and she had some recommendations that cured everything. Same dog food, but smaller bites, and do not wet it. Raise the food dishes up because he was taking in to much air now that he doesn't have any teeth, he has to work harder to get the food in and is consequently taking in to much air. Air trying to come back up, food going down, was causing him to basically choke. after we did these recommendations, he has not had one of these seizures. I am extremely happy with how kind, helpful and informative this young lady was. I wish I could remember her name to be able to thank her. She works in the Oshkosh location.

I called to ask a question about a product and instead of just telling me if they had it or not.. the girl went on to tell me not to get it and made me feel like I was dumb for asking. I have had nice ppl there that help but, it is hard to get someones attention or help in a department. It usually isnt a quick in and out store like it should be. I worked for Petco in Cali for years and I know thats NOT how you speak to a customer or how you attend to their needs.

Hamster purchase

My son and I worked with Missy to get our hamster. She was very knowledgeable and helped us get everything we needed and told us the items she had for her hamster. My son walked out very happy. Missy was very helpful and great.

Horrible told the lady she charged my card twice even showed my bank statement and they did nothing about it
