Simparica TRIO® (sarolaner, moxidectin, and pyrantel chewable tablets) IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION: See Prescribing Information. Use with caution in dogs with a history of seizures. Simparica Trio contains sarolaner, a member of the isoxazoline class, which has been associated with neurologic adverse reactions including tremors, ataxia, and seizures in dogs with or without a history of neurologic disorders. The safe use of Simparica Trio has not been evaluated in breeding, pregnant, or lactating dogs. The most frequently reported adverse reactions in clinical trials were vomiting and diarrhea.

HEARTGARD® Plus (ivermectin/pyrantel)IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION: Following the use of HEARTGARD® Plus (ivermectin/pyrantel) in dogs, digestive and neurologic side effects and itching have been reported. Safe for puppies 6 weeks of age or older with no weight restrictions. All dogs should be tested for heartworm infection before starting a preventive program. NexGard® (afoxolaner)IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION: NexGard® (afoxolaner) is for use in dogs only. Safe for use in puppies 8 weeks of age or older, weighing 4 pounds or more. The most frequently reported adverse reactions include vomiting, itching, lethargy, diarrhea, and lack of appetite. The safe use of NexGard in pregnant, breeding, or lactating dogs has not been evaluated. Use with caution in dogs with a history of seizures or neurologic disorders. Dr. Abbey Raaphorst

Hospital Medical Leader

Dr. Abbey Raaphorst was born and raised in New Orleans and attended Cabrini High School. She later attended Louisiana State University where she finished her degree in Natural Resource Ecology and Management. Dr. Abbey moved on to the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine, earning her DVM in May of 2016 before moving back home to New Orleans. She worked in private practice for 3 years before joining the Thrive Vet Care Metairie team in March of 2019 which became Vetco Total Care (Metairie) in May of 2022.

Dr. Abbey is currently a member of the Southeast Louisiana Veterinary Association, Louisiana Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Veterinary Medical Association.

Dr. Abbey enjoys spending time with her husband, Justin, her sons Everett and Myles, her Irish Wolfhound Satchmo, and her big orange fluffy cat Remoulade (Remy for short). In her spare time, Dr. Abbey can be found playing beach volleyball, traveling, snorkeling/scuba diving, and exploring New Orleans.

Dr. Jordan Foxx

Dr. Jordan Foxx has always known she wanted to be a veterinarian, driven by a passion for being a voice for animals. Her interest in conservation and exotic species preservation has shaped her career, leading her to specialize in the care of exotic animals. She is committed to providing exceptional veterinary care, with a particular focus on the unique needs of these species.

Dr. Foxx earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the Ross School of Veterinary Medicine and completed her clinical year at the University of Wisconsin. She is an active member of the American Association of Zoo Veterinarians (AAZV) and the College of Zoo Veterinarians, further demonstrating her dedication to the field.

Beyond her professional work, Dr. Foxx volunteers with the Audubon Species Survival Center, contributing to conservation efforts that help protect and preserve various species. In her free time, she enjoys training her pet cats, Kitsune, Martini, and Poe. Kitsune even has a social media presence, often featuring expert guest appearances from Dr. Foxx herself.

Dr. Rachel Lee

Dr. Rachel Lee was born and raised in New Orleans Louisiana. She completed both her undergraduate degree in animal sciences, and her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine with honors from Louisiana State University. After graduating from veterinary school in 2016 she moved to Auburn, Alabama to be with her husband while he finished his surgical residency. She practiced as a small animal veterinarian there until taking a job and moving back home to New Orleans in 2018. In 2021, she began working for Thrive veterinary care which then became Vetco total care in May of 2022. Dr. Rachel Lee has a passion for providing her patients with top tier care and educating her community on preventative care so they make the best decisions when it comes to keeping their loved ones healthy and happy! She also has interests in dermatology, clinical pathology, and soft tissue surgery. She is also a proud member of the AVMA and SLVA. In her spare time, she enjoys spending quality time with her husband, their daughter, as well as, their 2 dogs (Leeaux and Phoenix) and 2 cats (Taceaux and Queseaux). She loves to travel and spend time outdoors.
