DR. MARIUS MEINTJES

profile photo

Dr. Marius Meintjes is a seasoned veterinarian with a diverse background in veterinary medicine, reproductive physiology and human-assisted reproduction. A native of South Africa, he began his career in private practice, working with pets, food animals and native wildlife.

After completing military service as an army veterinarian, Dr. Meintjes served as a large animal veterinarian and lecturer at Onderstepoort School of Veterinary Medicine, University of Pretoria, while pursuing graduate studies in Radiology, Clinical Pathology and Pharmacology. He then went on to pursue a Ph.D. in Reproductive Physiology and Embryo Biotechnology at Louisiana State University (LSU).

At LSU, Dr. Meintjes and his team achieved groundbreaking successes in reproductive veterinary medicine. This inspired him to transition to assisted reproduction in humans, where his expertise was instrumental in developing IVF technologies. His research and clinical innovations have been published in peer-reviewed journals and book chapters, as well as presented at international scientific conferences.

In 2018, Dr. Meintjes retired from human fertility and returned to his first passion: veterinary medicine. Currently, Dr. Meintjes works as a Hospital Veterinarian at Vetco Total Care in Frisco, where he specializes in oral and dental surgery. His passion is making a difference in the lives of pets and their parents, one pet at a time.

Outside of work, Dr. Meintjes recently qualified as a paramedic and enjoys volunteering in his spare time, assisting on ambulances throughout Collin County.
