Dr. Kristina Cooney has served as Hospital Medical Leader at the Petco veterinary hospital in Providence since it opened in 2021, a graduate of the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine. She treats dogs, cats, and even the occasional reptile, with a surgical caseload ranging from routine spays and neuters to advanced soft tissue procedures, dental care including extractions and oral surgery, dermatology, and limited ultrasound work. Dr. Cooney is especially passionate about growing the surgical services offered at her hospital, and she takes particular pride in guiding families through end-of-life care with compassion, helping them celebrate a pet's life rather than focus only on its loss. Outside the clinic, she plays softball and volleyball and enjoys spending time with her nieces and nephews.
