Veterinarian Spotlight

Dr Kara Rogers

profile photo

Dr Kara Rogers is an associate veterinarian at the Vetco Total Care in Lees Summit, Missouri. Dr Rogers was born and raised in St Louis, Missouri. Her father is a retired veterinarian, so she literally grew up in the industry and has worked in all facets of veterinary medicine, starting with kennel work and grooming, to tech work in high school and now as a veterinarian. She went to Vanderbilt University and the University of Kansas and graduated with a BS in Business Administration and Mathematics. She worked in Corporate America for a few years in Finance and Marketing Research before realizing veterinary medicine was her true passion in life.

Dr Rogers went to Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in 2011, focusing on internal medicine of small animals (cats and dogs). She has worked at various clinics throughout the Midwest, learning about eastern and western veterinary medicine and how synergistic they are together, expanding her interest in physical therapy and rehabilitation after injuries, and working to develop her teams on the importance of client education and preventive medicine.

Dr Rogers has a passion for rescue and when she isn’t working, she is likely helping network animals in need to get them to rescue, transporting them across the Midwest, organizing fundraisers for area shelters and rescues, or volunteering with HELP Humane, Inc, an amazing local feline rescue out of Belton, Missouri. She also is very active in weight lifting, running, walking with her 2 pitbulls, Mia and Gemma, as well as baking, healthy cooking, and doing craft projects and home renovations. She also has 5 cats that keep her on her toes constantly – all seven animals are death row rescues from high kill shelters and are the best roommates a girl could ask for. (They’d be even better if they chipped in towards the mortgage and food bills, but the cats prefer sleeping and looking pretty to doing any real money-generating work. 😊 )
