Petco does accept unwanted fish. If you have a healthy freshwater fish you can no longer care for, you can bring it to your local Petco for donation. It is wise to call ahead to check if that location is able to accept a fish donation at that time, as they may have limited space available for donated fish. Before you choose to adopt a fish or group of fish, make sure you know everything involved so you are fully prepared to care for your pets. Petco guarantees returns of freshwater aquatic life inside a designated time frame. For 30 days, you can receive a full refund for freshwater fish purchased in our Pet Care Centers. All fish should have a properly established habitat; a receipt is required, and we recommend providing a water sample with your return. By testing your water, we can help check if your tank is ready for another fish, or if it may need some work to prepare it for a new fish.

Bad customer service & attitude from “Ann-nie”

“Ant-nie” or whatever her name spelled like, with a big hat and an outfit full of life, yet an opposite, nasty personality towards me. I live in davis and god know how many time and money I spend in petco. And this person supposed to be an aquarist specialist yet doesn’t even know for certain whether Indian pea-puffer (sold by petco Vacaville) is brackish or freshwater. After turning me away from an exchange of a healthy fish for healthy fish (due to aggressive characteristics of the fish), she raised her voice and expressed with displeasure toward me, curtly asked where the fish that I want to exchange after I corrected her politely that pea puffer are completely freshwater and petco davis should be able to take care of it. I had alway sense her unprofessionalism and not give a care attitude so I try to avoid her if I can, for I shop here often. however today i have to interact with her and honestly I will never come back here again. furthermore the store's condition is absolute dirty and lack of life.

Horrible Grooming Experience

Have taken my dog to get groomed before but this last time I took him there they took 5 hours on him we dropped him off at 8am and didn’t pick him until 1:30pm because of a new girl she shaved him too short on some parts of his body she gave him a cut in his ear and burned his testicle area we’ve had to take him to the vet and keep him on ointments and medication because of the pain she didn’t even cut his nails don’t know why they let you choose a groomer if they’re just gonna let anyone do their grooming super upset with this place

Lilly was so patient and helpful!! She created my vital care account and made the process easier. Knowledgeable employee and kind. Only thing I dislike about this location is the humidity for most of the reptiles is dangerously low. Otherwise one of the better petcos I've been to.

I have shopped at petco for a long time. This holiday season has been hitting hard. Today I came into the store, and there was a line reaching the wall. The poor cashier Lily was trying to help someone in fish while everyone stared. She was the only one working the floor. She was patient, while getting everyone through quickly. I want her manager to thank her for keeping it together when there was no one else around.

Terrible Customer Service

I just had such a terrible customer service experience at the Petcon on Covell in Davis. I approached the cash register to check out. There was no one "manning" the register, but *4* associated behind the counter having some kind of a discussion. I just stood there and none of them even made eye contact. Finally, I asked if the register was open and one of these people, with SUCH an attituted, told me to wait a few minutes. What? One of her companions stepped up and said "I'll help you" and checked me out. There are plenty of other places to buy cat food, won't be going back to this store.
