Petco does accept unwanted fish. If you have a healthy freshwater fish you can no longer care for, you can bring it to your local Petco for donation. It is wise to call ahead to check if that location is able to accept a fish donation at that time, as they may have limited space available for donated fish. Before you choose to adopt a fish or group of fish, make sure you know everything involved so you are fully prepared to care for your pets. Petco guarantees returns of freshwater aquatic life inside a designated time frame. For 30 days, you can receive a full refund for freshwater fish purchased in our Pet Care Centers. All fish should have a properly established habitat; a receipt is required, and we recommend providing a water sample with your return. By testing your water, we can help check if your tank is ready for another fish, or if it may need some work to prepare it for a new fish.

No one available at register

Walked in on 6/8/22 after work around 5:30-6 to get cat food. Not only were they out of what I needed, but after waiting 3 minutes in a line of no people, I decided to go next door at Shaw's to get in and out quicker. I wish they had self checkout for times like this. Luckily there's a Petsmart down the street. Hopefully their service is better

Vetco - Oversold and Rude

We have been to Petco and Vetco numerous times. The “vets” at the Chapel View location in Cranston were under staffed, frustrated, and rushed. All the other locations have a Vetco section. This was a table by the checkout and I was forth in line?! I have never had to wait in line with others cars and dogs. No crap he’s going to bark. Also out dog has NEVER, EVER been muzzled. They insisted and then said we needed training! Do you know how hard it was to get my fiancé to go??? He’s completely embarrassed. Booo Cranston Vetco. Boo

Employees were very helpful.

Everyone I dealt with went above and beyond. One employee was very helpful and dug in the back for me twice. All employees were knowledgeable and talkative. Even the cashier went to get me a cart so I could transport my purchases easier. It’s not every day you get customer service that’s good let alone at all. Thank you.

Lazy groomers not wanting to do their job

I brought my goldendoodle in to be groomed. Made the appointment online. The initial groomer checked us in, I said he had some matting, she said that it was fine he would just need to shaved, came over and felt him and took him back. From the time I walked from the drag to my car my phone was ringing, they said they can’t groom him because the mat is too close to the skin? Aren’t that what groomers are for? My guess is they saw a goldendoodle that required work and they just said nope not gonna happen. Maybe it was for the better, called another groomer immediately let them know what happened and their response when I said he had some matting was “no problem he will probably just have to be shaved”.

Poor grooming

We took my dog in for grooming. Farrrah said it would take her 3 hours to groom our dog. Three hours later we picked up our dog and it was obvious that he wasn't bathed because he still had a terrible odor and he wasn't shaved. Only around his eyes. We wasted 3 hours waiting g for our pet to be groomed and it was all for not.i will never return. She could have at least called us to inform us that she was not able to do a complete grooming. Very poor customer service

Best Petco in RI! One of the only places to get dart frogs and other exotic pets. Steph the manager is fantastic, cares deeply about animal welfare, and will take the time to make sure all pets find their happiest forever home. Always in stock with insect feeders where other stores fall short.

My partner and I have homed several little friends from this Petco! The manager Steph, has been the most helpful, friendly and knowledgeable staff member we’ve met at any Petco in Rhode Island. She has not only given us helpful and honest tips every time we come in, but is also an absolute joy to be around. I recommend visiting Steph at the Garden City Petco for ANY of your pet needs (ESPECIALLY for reptiles, amphibians and arachnids).
