DR. LUCA POPESCU
Dr. Luca Popescu (he/him) is a Hospital Veterinarian with a focus on infectious and zoonotic diseases. He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and Kansas City Veterinary Medical Association (KCVMA) and is experienced with a wide range of animals, from dogs and cats to lab animals like monkeys and rodents.
Dr. Popescu's veterinary career was inspired by a lifelong appreciation for both medicine and animals. He has always felt a close connection to animals and the many ways they enrich our lives—and both his parents are medical doctors—so working with animals and their human companions through veterinary medicine just made sense.
Dr. Popescu earned his undergraduate, veterinary and graduate degrees from Kansas State University. He currently practices in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, a location that offers the perfect balance between proximity to the city and access to outdoor activities.
Outside of his veterinary practice, Dr. Popescu enjoys a variety of hobbies, including fishing, triathlons (swimming, cycling, running) and woodworking, and he participates in local cycling clubs. At home, he shares his life with two dogs, two cats and a tarantula.

Simparica TRIO® (sarolaner, moxidectin, and pyrantel chewable tablets) IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION: See Prescribing Information. Use with caution in dogs with a history of seizures. Simparica Trio contains sarolaner, a member of the isoxazoline class, which has been associated with neurologic adverse reactions including tremors, ataxia, and seizures in dogs with or without a history of neurologic disorders. The safe use of Simparica Trio has not been evaluated in breeding, pregnant, or lactating dogs. The most frequently reported adverse reactions in clinical trials were vomiting and diarrhea.
HEARTGARD® Plus (ivermectin/pyrantel)IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION: Following the use of HEARTGARD® Plus (ivermectin/pyrantel) in dogs, digestive and neurologic side effects and itching have been reported. Safe for puppies 6 weeks of age or older with no weight restrictions. All dogs should be tested for heartworm infection before starting a preventive program. NexGard® (afoxolaner)IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION: NexGard® (afoxolaner) is for use in dogs only. Safe for use in puppies 8 weeks of age or older, weighing 4 pounds or more. The most frequently reported adverse reactions include vomiting, itching, lethargy, diarrhea, and lack of appetite. The safe use of NexGard in pregnant, breeding, or lactating dogs has not been evaluated. Use with caution in dogs with a history of seizures or neurologic disorders.
