Petco does accept unwanted fish. If you have a healthy freshwater fish you can no longer care for, you can bring it to your local Petco for donation. It is wise to call ahead to check if that location is able to accept a fish donation at that time, as they may have limited space available for donated fish. Before you choose to adopt a fish or group of fish, make sure you know everything involved so you are fully prepared to care for your pets. Petco guarantees returns of freshwater aquatic life inside a designated time frame. For 30 days, you can receive a full refund for freshwater fish purchased in our Pet Care Centers. All fish should have a properly established habitat; a receipt is required, and we recommend providing a water sample with your return. By testing your water, we can help check if your tank is ready for another fish, or if it may need some work to prepare it for a new fish.

Thankful ferret customers!

I just want to give a big shout out to Damien at the Arnold location! I reached out almost two weeks ago asking about ferrets. At the time they were out, but he took down my information so that he could let me know when they got them in. He called me a few days later in the morning and let me know they would be coming in. That afternoon my son and I went to look. We loved the ferrets, but didn’t quite have the money. Damien understood and was so patient. Fast forward to this week, we went Saturday night to look at the ferrets again, this time with my husband. We were allowed to handle them and get to know them. Even though we weren’t purchasing her that night, they were great. We went back today, Sunday and walked away with our girl. Thank you Damien! You didn’t rush or try to push her on us and were awesome!

Grooming experience

I made an appt for my maltese and waited 2 weeks to get in. When I arrived I was told that her rabies shot had expired on July 31 2021. This is Aug 25th and she is scheduled to get the new one on Sept 8th. I told this to the tech and she just kept saying that "that is state policy, we cannot take her". I called one of your competitors in the parking lot and told them the situation and they said, "no problem, bring her in and we will just verify with your vet that she is on the list to have the rabies shot". So I took her there. I am writing this because I am very disappointed in having to take the time out of my work day to do this when it was an easy solution to a problem and your employee did not even suggest it. I have 4 pets that I have groomed regularly and will not be doing that at PETCO any longer. Common sense is a lost trait.
