Many varieties of freshwater fish come in an array of colors, making it easy to customize your aquarium's look and feel. First-time pet parents often choose to take home a betta, as they are beautiful to look at and make a great species for those getting started with aquarium keeping. Petco does accept unwanted fish. If you have a healthy freshwater fish you can no longer care for, you can bring it to your local Petco for donation. It is wise to call ahead to check if that location is able to accept a fish donation at that time, as they may have limited space available for donated fish. Before you choose to adopt a fish or group of fish, make sure you know everything involved so you are fully prepared to care for your pets. Petco guarantees returns of freshwater aquatic life inside a designated time frame. For 30 days, you can receive a full refund for freshwater fish purchased in our Pet Care Centers. All fish should have a properly established habitat; a receipt is required, and we recommend providing a water sample with your return. By testing your water, we can help check if your tank is ready for another fish, or if it may need some work to prepare it for a new fish.

Unfriendly employees

Went to this store around 1 pm on January 6. Asked for help fitting my pup with appropriate harness. People uninterested. First one picked up harness then left for phone call. Second one put on harness two sizes too big and said the dog will grow into it walked away. She tried to send someone else but they stood arguing because he didn't want to help. We took off harness and left the store. will NOT return. I had gone to that store for years.

Best staff

Great experience. The staff is always friendly and knowledgeable. The two ladies who helped with my most recent purchase (my feathery friend) gave some excellent tips for carrying for my new bird. They were extremely kind with him and accommodating for me to pick him up a few minutes after closing even... only 5 minutes... due to my long commute. I'm not usually one to buy pets at the store but i couldn't have been more impressed with the staff at this location. Also...i love skittles!

Husky Nail Trim

I brought my puppy in for his nails to be clipped as they were getting kind of long. The person who checked me in wasn't overly friendly and we needed to make an account since it was our first time being there. After his appointment she told me he wasn't very happy during the process, and when I got home I looked at his nails and there wasn't a single nail that had been clipped - when they are clearly long enough to have some clipped off. I now have to schedule another nail appointment at another business, because it's nails are uncomfortably long. If he was unhappy enough that no nails were able to be clipped, it would have been appreciated to come and get me to try and help calm my dog down. He's a 6 month old puppy, it isn't that hard to help him relax. Not just completely skip the service I paid and tipped for.
