Petco does accept unwanted fish. If you have a healthy freshwater fish you can no longer care for, you can bring it to your local Petco for donation. It is wise to call ahead to check if that location is able to accept a fish donation at that time, as they may have limited space available for donated fish. Before you choose to adopt a fish or group of fish, make sure you know everything involved so you are fully prepared to care for your pets. Petco guarantees returns of freshwater aquatic life inside a designated time frame. For 30 days, you can receive a full refund for freshwater fish purchased in our Pet Care Centers. All fish should have a properly established habitat; a receipt is required, and we recommend providing a water sample with your return. By testing your water, we can help check if your tank is ready for another fish, or if it may need some work to prepare it for a new fish.

Lots of fish

Just got my 75 gallon going. Went to petsmart in cartersville, nothing. The nice lady got me most of the fish I wanted. They have much more than our store here. She was very pleasant getting 12 fish. I liked how she took care of us, even checked us out. I will be going back.

Sad there many adults working at this store that won't take 5 minutes to scoop the cat boxes in the catio. They say the shelter does it. Why does someone have to drive to scoop a box & give them clean water/food when it's a pet store? One kitty had diarrhea, making it stink & there was food in the slimy water. No one wants to buy a sick cat. It doesn't take much to scoop a box. I don't care how much or little you get paid. The store wasn't busy at all. Poor babies are going to be smelling that all day or til someone steps up.

So, my fiancé and I own a herd of guinea pigs and we brought one home from this petco who passed very suddenly. It was such a sad day, but we decided to use their refund policy and did all we needed to in order to follow said policy. That day we met a staff member who was incredibly rude to us and it left a sour taste in our mouth. Though a floor manager helped us do what we came there for (to bring a new little friend home), we were still rather upset and flustered for weeks after. A few days later, I decided to submit a complaint and was told by a corporate email that my complaint would be forwarded to the store. I assumed after not hearing from anyone for about a week that nothing was going to happen. Which was sad, but suddenly I got a call from the general manager themselves. They apologized and validated my concerns immediately as well as invited my fiancé and I in to get an in person apology. We were floored at the response we got and when we arrived everyone there was so kind and understanding as well as attentive to every detail. It was a complete difference telling my fiancé and I that we just happened to meet the one fluke in their staff. We even adopted three rehomed guinea pigs that day! This store is truly an example as to the standard that all pet stores in my opinion should be held to. Not only did the employees know so much about their small pets, but care so much about their customers that we felt warm and welcomed after such a horrible loss. There is literally no greater praise that I can give everyone there and if you are looking for a great petco to shop from, I urge you to check them out!! Thank y'all for such an amazing experience!!!

Always a good experience. Does not matter which location near me that we've gone to make a purchase, the employees / associates are always helpful and ready to go the extra mile to assist. One of the managers was working the register and went out of her way to make sure that we were getting what we needed and explained about the Petco rewards program and dog training, should we be interested. Certainly helped us save money and appreciate her taking the time to explain. She was absolutely great.

Acceptable losses

One of the snails I ordered arrived as just an empty shell and the shaving brush disintegrated after arrival. Not the most pleased I've been with an order but I am glad the majority made it.
