Many varieties of freshwater fish come in an array of colors, making it easy to customize your aquarium's look and feel. First-time pet parents often choose to take home a betta, as they are beautiful to look at and make a great species for those getting started with aquarium keeping. Petco does accept unwanted fish. If you have a healthy freshwater fish you can no longer care for, you can bring it to your local Petco for donation. It is wise to call ahead to check if that location is able to accept a fish donation at that time, as they may have limited space available for donated fish. Before you choose to adopt a fish or group of fish, make sure you know everything involved so you are fully prepared to care for your pets. Petco guarantees returns of freshwater aquatic life inside a designated time frame. For 30 days, you can receive a full refund for freshwater fish purchased in our Pet Care Centers. All fish should have a properly established habitat; a receipt is required, and we recommend providing a water sample with your return. By testing your water, we can help check if your tank is ready for another fish, or if it may need some work to prepare it for a new fish.

Horrible service

DO NOT patronize this place! Grooming appointment was cancelled two times and then third time the groomer didn’t finish my dog. She told us to bring him back the next day and we did. STILL no completed job. We asked to bring him back tomorrow. NOT happening. Thank you for screwing up my dog’s haircut and ruining my day.

Bad selection, bad service

I went in today to grab a cat carrier for my cats vet appointment that same day. They barely had any to choose from and all were overpriced. Looking through the cat section, there is 1 aisle of cat treats and toys while 3/4 of the store is filled with things for dogs. As I was wandering around trying to even find the carriers, I couldn’t see any employees to even ask. The second I realized an employee passed by me, she was walking too fast for me to get her help and she should’ve approached me anyway. I finally grabbed a carrier and went in line where there was 1 other person waiting. The cashier was trying to sell the person he was ringing up some service or insurance but he couldn’t figure out how to do the process on the register. I waited for 5 minutes, the cashier not even acknowledging the line or asking for backup when people started lining up behind me. The cashier didn’t seem well trained and was struggling up there alone. Going to a petco in Saratoga springs on a Monday afternoon shouldn’t take as long as it did.

AWFUL SERVICE

Went in to get 1, 22 cent goldfish for my son. We got him a fish tank. I did not know the exact gallon that the tank was. She whole setup cost us like $150. The employee REFUSED to sell me a goldfish for 22 cents and said they get too big for the tank, I said I can release it into a pond if it ever survives to be this big. She freaked out, told me that the fish are feeling pain and I am not giving them the life they deserve, all the while their fish are JAM PACKED into fish tanks! Absolutely terrible

Grooming - 0 Stars.

Thought I'd give them a try since they are new. If you have the same thought, I beg you to reconsider. Don't waste your money. They kept my dog for over 7 hours, didn't communicate and I only got him back after driving to the store and getting a manager involved. I made an appointment for 9:30 am for my dog to be groomed. $80 is more than I typically pay, but they're close and figured the convenience would be nice. Got there and was informed my groomer was 30 minutes late for her shift, so they wouldn't check my dog in because one was already back there waiting. Should have been my sign to walk away. She said I could wait 15 minutes and if the other 9:30 appointment hadn't shown she'd take my dog instead. My groomer walked in at 9:45. Get him checked in and she says "it's really busy today so it'll probably be closer to 4 hours." Again probably should have walked away. I go about my day and at 2:00 pm I call to check and see what's going on. "We're finishing him up now he should be done within an hour." 4:00 pm rolls around and I call again, "we're finishing him up now, give us 20 minutes." I wasn't waiting any longer so headed down to find out what was going on and talk to a manager. More than 45 minutes after the promise of "20 minutes" and I still hadn't heard from the groomer. A million excuses later (dog bit another groomer so he's out, only 1 groomer there most of the day, my dog didn't like his legs and face being touched) and I got him back. The haircut is uneven, he's got a few scratches on him and his face looks like it wasn't even washed. Thanks but no thanks. You won't be getting my business in the future and I hope others take caution in booking grooming appointments at this location.

I've tried twice to get a decent haircut for my dog. Both times he's looked objectively awful afterwards. They clearly need more experienced staff

Great story horrible employee

I brought my 7 year old in the store to buy a small glow fish for a 15 gallon tank that currently has two small fish (approximately 3 inches). He was an extremely condescending kid that insisted that he knew better than everyone in the building and refused to sell a little kid a fish claiming that three inches were already too much fish for a 15 gallon tank. Standard is 1:1 1 inch of fish per gallon but he knew better. I asked if he was so concerned why does the store have several tanks with more than 40 inch +fish in a 15 gallon tank. His answer was those aren’t the permanent homes for the fish. I pointed out that to the multiple dead fish in the tanks those homes were definitely permanent. He still refused. At the end of the day we went to Petsmart where clearly the employees were more intelligent and interested in being decent people. Even their tanks were clean. No dead fish.

Super friendly, helpful, store is modern and clean. Was really surprised to see such low reviews because they are great. Wish I could remember the girls name who always remembers me, she has short blonde hair and works the register, she is wonderful.

Apathetic, Dirty, Disappointing

The dog wash area is always disgusting. The water is too hot. The shampoo is often out. The employees couldn't care to help. This feedback HAS been given to several employees including the manager, and have been shrugged off like I'm an idiot. DON'T go here.

Terrible service

I just visited the store tonight and was refused service because I came in 5 minutes before service. I asked to purchase some items that others were purchasing and was told no and the boy at the register first ignored me and then told me that it was too late to purchase anything 2 minutes before closing time. I will not be going back and I will be letting everybody that I know how terrible the service is at this location.
