Many varieties of freshwater fish come in an array of colors, making it easy to customize your aquarium's look and feel. We carry an array of species from aggressive and semi-aggressive to schooling fish, so you can find the right fish to fit the size and style aquarium you want. First-time pet parents often choose to take home a betta, as they are beautiful to look at and make a great species for those getting started with aquarium keeping. Petco does accept unwanted fish. If you have a healthy freshwater fish you can no longer care for, you can bring it to your local Petco for donation. It is wise to call ahead to check if that location is able to accept a fish donation at that time, as they may have limited space available for donated fish. Before you choose to adopt a fish or group of fish, make sure you know everything involved so you are fully prepared to care for your pets. Petco guarantees returns of freshwater aquatic life inside a designated time frame. For 30 days, you can receive a full refund for freshwater fish purchased in our Pet Care Centers. All fish should have a properly established habitat; a receipt is required, and we recommend providing a water sample with your return. By testing your water, we can help check if your tank is ready for another fish, or if it may need some work to prepare it for a new fish.

Amazing staff and employees

I brought my students to Petco in Highlands Ranch today and was overwhelmed by the staff's kindness and ability to go out of their way to be kind and caring to my students. We were their looking for pet items for a gift basket and the staff gave suggestions, brought us to different areas and truly made the experience such a wonderful one for us all. I highly recommend this location and can not say enough about how thoughtful each and every staff member was. Thank you!

Great groomers

After my dogs were traumatized by another groomer at Petsmart 2 years ago I decided to give these guys a try after seeing them groom as I was paying for merchandise. Allie and Shea did such a good job with the grooming and taking care of my fur babies I will definitely bring them back here.

Horrible Customer Service in Grooming dept

I had advised the groomer when I dropped off my dogs that I was not going to be available until after 1pm to pick up the dogs. They were completely fine with it because they had a bunch of dogs to groom. My dogs were done at about noon, but they did not reach out to us until 2pm which was fine with us. When I arrived at 3pm, they claim that they had called us at noon and since we didn't pick up the dogs we were going to be charged $15 per dog/per hour. I explained to Shea (grooming "manager") the situation and she was completely unprofessional. She proceeded to yell at me because I didn't pick up my dogs when she supposedly called. I told her I would not be paying the "boarding" fee of $15 because I had fully explained the situation in the morning. She continued to yell at me and berate me in front of other people which was entirely embarrassing. She told me that she would waive the boarding fee but she prohibits my dogs from coming back ever again to get groomed. I told her "fine", but that I thought that was extremely harsh and rude. The gentlemen that was helping me at the register (Journey) was shaking the entire time as she yelled at me, no one should have to work in that kind of an environment. Nonetheless, he was very helpful and kind. Such an uncomfortable experience and I will gladly not take my dogs back. I wouldn't want her to hurt them if I did. Shea needs to find a position where she doesn't allow her real personality come out when she is dealing with the general public. The grooming job done was good.
