Traumatizing grooming
We brought our 1 yr pug in for a bath and nail trim and paid extra for buffing the nails. It took 1.5 hours and when we checked back a few times the tech said "she freaked out over the dryers so now she has to air dry, so it's going to be quite a while before she's ready. I asked if the nail trim was done and was told our dog freaked out over the nail clip so she's not done. When they were finally done and we paid $60 got in the car and her nails are jagged and ragged. Terrible experience and I will not be back.

Customer service
I've been in paso store along and bought fish for my 5 gal tank. But today the associate told me I could not buy any fish unless I had a 10 gal tank. I told her I've bought fish here for my 5 gal and never was told that I could not purchase any fish for my 5 gal. She said sorry store wide policy. I'm passed ill never go back to a petco store again. This is the first time I was told that. But it was close to closing maybe she did not want to be bothered.

I quit Petco!!
I spent 500$ on dog food- the store no longer delivers the food for automatic delivery that I want. my only option is to buy in the store now. Why? The manager had no idea! Also my app was conveniently down in the store and I was not able to get any loyalty member points or future discounts because it’s in the store and not a online order!!! You lost a customer , I will buy drifferent dog food brand and take my business to Tractor Supply in N. County. I tried leaving my number with the manager so they could try to resolve it when it’s convenient for them… but just was like, “ idk what I’d even say to, who?” .. umm what, idk your boss!!!

Rude Clueless Employee
An employee, I was told her name is Kim, had a very bad attitude dealing with me and my son then in her hubris refused to sell me a fish for mistaken and unfounded reasons. My son and I went to the store to purchase a new fish for our tank and at first a nice young woman (I unfortunately didn’t get her name) did an excellent job helping us out. She asked all the appropriate questions about the size of our tank, how long we’ve had it and what fish are currently in it. I appreciate that those questions are asked, I’ve been doing aquariums for about 20 years and like to know that there is an attempt to make sure the fish are being taken care of properly. While she was in the middle of helping us and had already gotten the fish we wanted into the interim holding tank, Kim walked over and started asking about our tank. When I told her the size of our tank, she insisted that it was too small for the fish we wanted then, when I started to push back on her claims, her attitude became very rude, snooty, and condescending. Like I mentioned previously, I’ve been an aquarium hobbyist for about 20 years and I’ve done a little bit of everything: freshwater, saltwater, big, small, reef, planted, amphibious, etc. While it might be appropriate to show caution to a newer hobbyist wanting to put a small cichlid in a 30 gallon tank, there was absolutely no reason for Kim to give me a hard time about it, especially after I explained my situation to her. I designed my current tank from the ground up to hold a couple small South American cichlids; it has a slightly lowered PH, high tannin levels, lots of live plants (native to the Amazon), and plenty of hiding places. Frankly, I’m appalled at the way Kim treated my son and I and I don’t plan on ever shopping at that store again. I would have been fine with her insisting that the tank is too small, I’m sure Petco has general guidelines for employees to follow, but am absolutely not okay with her doing it in such a rude manner that not only upset me, but my son as well. If Petco does have guidelines on fish types and tank sizes, maybe it would be wise to make sure employees know that they aren’t dogma and certain situations allow for different types of setups.

Prices are too high and inventory of dog food changes so it is difficult to feed our dogs the same mix consistently.

“Walk in”needs appointment
My dog just needed nail trim and they don’t allow me to make an appointment online as nail trim is part of WALK IN service. I went to the store with my dog and asked for nail trim but I was told that you need to call and make an appoint. I logged into my Petco account and checked all info include vaccine requirements before I head to the store . My dogs are registered at Petco glooming but Only the website says “ Please call salon at (805) 400-6211 to schedule cats or multiple pets during the same time.” They should mention so if I had to call in advance. If appointment by phone is required, it’s not Walk in.

Poor customer treatment
This is a review of the grooming service. We scheduled a grooming appt weeks in advance, and we were told upon arrival that dogs on medication cannot be groomed. There was no sort of notice of this policy, so we didn’t find out that our dog could not be groomed until we showed up. Now we can’t get our dog in to be groomed anywhere for weeks as everywhere is booked up. We called another Petco location, and they were unaware of such a “policy”. When we asked why this policy was not made clear upon booking the appointment, we were told it was to prevent customers from “lying” about their dog’s medication. We found this to be deceitful and no way to treat a customer. A policy like this needs to be transparent, especially one so arbitrary. They didn’t ask what medication our dog was on or why, and they claim any dog on any medication of any kind can’t be groomed. Terrible way to treat a customer, and we will not be going back to Petco again.

New lizard owner
While they are not experts, they were friendly and researched any questions we had that they could not answer. I appreciated the time they took with us to get us set up with what we needed.

Concerned about Cockatiels
Hi guys, I visited your store on Friday, Oct 8 to get a puppy toy for my dog. I walked through a lonely isle and stopped to look at this solitary cockatiel. The moment I paused in front of his cage, he flew over to me and pressed his little beak against the glass. It looked like he was trying to communicate, but the double paned glass didn't allow any sound to pass through. I asked one employee how long he was there and she said he could be there up to three months before they discounted his price (currently around $350). I wanted to buy him just to show him love and companionship. But rescuing a bird from solitary confinement (a verifiable form of torture) shouldn't be what I am inclined to do while browsing the isles of Petco. Can we recognize that cockatiels are highly intelligent and social creatures, and keeping them isolated in a cage that looks like a testing lab case should not be tolerated by animal lovers.
